Greetings fellow word smiths, I hope all is well and I thank you for having me here today. So, you ask why does someone set out to write 12,000 online articles and how is that even possible? Well you must realize that many times I talk to the computer and make an article that way, when it gets to 300 or 400 words I cut it off and start another one.
Sometimes, I do these for hours on end. Often up to 20 per day. Some of these quickie articles are not so good, but I am getting much better with my editing and proof reading. Nevertheless they make people think, which is the goal of course, but you are correct if you say not all my articles are great.
If you found one you did not think was so hot, then perhaps it is a subject that, I realize no one cares much about. For instance one article someone was recently critical of had only brought in 270 article views in six months, not so good. About 40% of my articles are like that. Remember I am work in progress – I had to teach myself how to do this.
Why Haven’t You Written Any Books?
Well, none of this is the reason I have do not have lots of books under my name at the bookstores. I have been a co-author of a book on Franchising and have some eBooks under my belt (11), mostly practice for me. Remember I am not a writer or claim to be one. I do not even especially consider writers of our day so great. I read a lot of writers and the ones I read are very good and so I judge myself against the best. Why shoot for the lesser run of the mill?
The more you read the more critical you are of writers, thus your scale goes up and as you raise that bar it is harder to attain it. Writing to me is a skill and a good one to possess. Just because someone can write does not mean they know what they are talking about and just because someone cannot write does not mean they don’t. You see?
How many books one has written does not always equate to their level of insight. Often there is a disproportionate scale. As they are so busy writing, that they never have done anything, this is offensive to those of us who have. So, I guess those are some of my thoughts on writers and writing.
I am not impressed very often and upset when I read a book that wastes my time. As one climbs in knowledge it happens more often. The scale of diminishing returns occurs, making it less pleasurable to read. You want more juice, more information, more insight, more relevance. Where is it?
It becomes and challenge, contest and mission to seek out the best books and concepts. When you get to that point you begin to listen to yourself more and look for tidbits knowing that only crumbs are left. But you must have those as well – Thinking out loud of course.
